Rating: 3 out of 5 stars
Marriage gets less convenient when love is involved.
It started simple: Ondrej Kovac marries Archie Katsaros so Ondrej can stay in the US, away from his judgmental family in eastern Europe. Archie marries Ondrej in exchange for the money to bail out his failing company. It’s a fraud neither man is convinced he can pull off.
But as Archie introduces Ondrej to New York society and Ondrej proves his skill in the office, they start to discover a connection between them. Can they overcome the rocky foundation their relationship was built on, meddling immigration agents, gossip columnists determined to out their deception, and an aggressive executive set on selling Archie’s company out from under him? Only if they can prove to each other their love is worth fighting for.

The title on this one made the first chapter a bit confusing. The green card groom was Ondrej from the Czech Republic but Archie was Greek but was born in America. It seemed to me as if the Greek thing was going to be more important but it was more that Archie’s dad was Greek.
ANYWAY if you ignore this then the book becomes more enjoyable, and then I’ll have saved you about forty pages of wondering why a Greek guy was from Prague, and then realizing that the other guy was supposed to be the Greek one. I don’t know why my brain got stuck on that but the title of the book was vaguely misleading.
I really enjoyed reading about Ondrej and Archie getting to know each other and I really really liked Archie a lot, so reading Ondrej’s POV about him was icing on the cake. The rest of the book was filled with classic pretend relationship miscommunication and insecurities, so if you are into that then you’ll want to check this out.
I keep saying that books will be a great summer read… and it is summer, so enjoy this book outside in the sun or indoors in the AC away from other humans with an iced beverage.
Kate McMurray is a nonfiction editor. Also, she is crafty (mostly knitting and sewing, but she also wields power tools), she plays the violin, and she dabbles in various other pursuits. She’s maybe a tiny bit obsessed with baseball. She lives in Brooklyn, NY, with a presumptuous cat.

I received an advanced copy of this novel in exchange for a fair and honest review.
You pretty much sold me with “The rest of the book was filled with classic pretend relationship miscommunication and insecurities, so if you are into that then you’ll want to check this out.” I adore pretend relationships turning into real ones. Thanks for the heads up about the title. I would likely have gotten caught up with it as well. Because Greek guys are all kinds of sexy and I would have been looking for one. 😉
